THE MAKEUP ARTIST POSES

Hey everyone! What’s up? I know I haven’t posted anything in here for a very long time, and I do apologize for that because I have been busy with my fitness goals and studies. I am finally going to graduate next year (2014) at the University of Santo Tomas. My course is, AB Economics, for those who don’t know yet. Well, anyway, I just wanted to share a few of my modeling pictures because I was finally given a chance to pose FOR THE FIRST TIME, after losing a lot of weight. Thanks to my trainer, Coach Mike Lagdameo from UP Diliman, and to my fitness coach, Ms. Jin Rufo. They’ve helped me a lot in terms of my weight loss journey that actually led me to meeting my new boyfriend, Mr. Patrick Anama. Yes, that’s how awesome these people are. Well, anyway, enough rambling because I do am planning on posting a different blog post on my weight loss journey soon. I don’t know when, but I will surely hit you guys up on Twitter when. Oh, and I don’t know if you guys caught me on TV, at Umagang Kay Ganda when I was chosen to “model” for David’s Salon. Oh well. Just let me know if you did. Anyway, here are the photos! ENJOY! ❤

BOHEMIAN INSPIRED SHOOT

QUEZON CITY MEMORIAL CIRCLE

OLAAAAAAAA! Its me again. I told you, I’ll try and update this blog from time to time. (LOL) Anyway, yesterday (December 09, 2012), I did a Bohemian Inspired Shoot  at the QC Memorial Circle with my good friend, Ms. Charis Antalan. She booked a fun shoot for me and her to do on a Sunday. We also kinda made it our chitchat day together since we haven’t really hanged out in such a long time. So this shoot was kinda like our very own bonding moment together. You know girls, they like to have their bonding sessions all pimped up by dressing up and such.

Ms. Mae Oropesa (Left), Mr. James Fadrillan (Red Shirt), and Mr. Ken Caliwanagan (Blue Shirt)

Mr. Mike Maravillo and Ms. Mae Oropesa

Ms. Charis Antalan

So basically, what happened was that she came over to my place to do makeup since I live a few blocks away from the location of the shoot. I won’t go over with what happened because its basically just the normal mantra that takes place here. Instead, I’ll just explain what I did to her face. The products I’ve used would be the “How To Look The Best At Everything – Flawless Complexion Makeup Kit” in the shade, Light. Since the product was a few shades lighter than her skin tone, I decided to mix it with my Loreal True Match Foundation in C7 to get an overall even color. The reason why the Benefit foundation kit was a few shades lighter was because it was of my personal use, but since I love Charis; I decided to try it on her. It works like magic, though because I didn’t have to retouch her face from time to time after using the “Pore Fessional – Pore Minimizer” tube that came with it. That product works like magic because it gives off such a flawless finish on the face. I really do recommend trying this one out. 🙂

HAIR AND MAKEUP

A closer look on the hair and makeup 🙂

As for the eyes, I just went through to doing a sultry smokey eyes look. It was merely a mixture of brown shadows. I won’t go into detail on how its done in this blog, but I promise to try and make a step-by-step guide on how I did this. Going back, the main thing that’s noticeable in all Bohemian Makeup Look photographs was the eyeliner. So I went on to lining her eyes and setting it with black eye shadow. The darker the eyeliner on the waterline, the more bohemian looking it is. Just make sure you don’t go overboard with it. Just the right amount of eyeliner to bring out the Bohemian effect would do. 🙂 For the rest of the face, what I did was to contour her nose, cheeks, and jawline. This was to further enhance her facial features. I also added bronzer and an orange toned blush to match the look. I didn’t went on to lining the lips nor adding any lipstick for that matter. I just used my nude lipgloss over the tinted lipbalm from Etude House for this. In summary, the main goal of the look is to make the eyes stand out in subtle manner. Some Makeup Artists like their models to have really dramatic eyes for this look, but I decided to just make it as balanced looking and wearable in any way possible. As for the hair, I decided to just do a simple half ponytail braid. Its really hard for me to explain how I did it, but I just merely twisted the sides of her hair and braid it downwards.

Ms. Charis Antalan

Well, that’s it for the hair and makeup story portion of this shoot. I can say that what happens in every shoot is just the normal thing. You know, the one wherein models would pose to match the look and the photographer shoots it. However, the fun part of this shoot was wherein I got to style Charis’ look. I don’t know how to explain this part since I am not at all a stylist, but I guess the photographs below will speak for themselves. I’m sorry about that. I just don’t wanna throw some fashion tips just like that without the proper background to backup what I’m saying. Nonetheless, if I get better at it, I think I’ll try and blog about fashion ideas too. What do you think? Everything is worth a shot. 🙂

The photographers that I have worked with in the shoot were:

Me and Charis 🙂

To sum up this blog, I would thank these photographers for doing such a great job in photographing my beautiful friend, Ms. Charis Antalan. I also would like to thank Ms. Mae Oropesa for treating us out to dinner at Max’s Restaurant. It was indeed a pleasure working with all of you. I hope that I get to work with all of you again soon. More so, I would like to thank Charis for everything. She really does know how to make me smile. So thank you all for such a fun shoot! 🙂 Oh, and thank you too for reading this very long blog. If you need people to do makeup, modelling and photography, feel free to leave a comment down below. Thank you again and God bless! 🙂

Oh, and as you can see, my hair is two-toned because I have just recently indulged myself into removing my dark hair dye using Vitamin C. You can check out my detailed blog post about that by clicking the link below. Thank you! Ciao! 🙂

Sixth Photo Shoot of 2012 and MORE! :))

Me doing the makeup of some of my co-candidates for the elections ♥

Yesterday (February 1), I had my Sixth Photo Shoot of 2012 at my school, the University of Santo Tomas. This shoot was for our campaign poster for the upcoming AB Student Council Elections. Yes, to answer your question on whether I am running or not, I must admit that I am. I do intend to run for the position of the AB Student Council Auditor. I know that most and if not, all of my blog posts sound as if I am always on the road of doing Photo Shoots, Gigs, Sessions and more. However, I also am still a student. You can read in the ‘Know The Artist’ section everything about me and what I am doing with my life. For more details, you can also look up my twitter account (@bunny1622) for the things that I do every single day because I do tweet everything I do.

Anyways, prior to explaining what I would always say in all my posts about the shoots I have done, I’ll share to you this time what I learned from the First Day of February, 2012. So for this day, I had a Leadership Seminar to attend to at the Benavides Auditorium located at the UST High School Building together with all the other candidates of different colleges. The title of the event was, ‘So You Think You Can Lead’ hosted by the AISEC Committee and the Comelec. At first, I was hesitant to attend the meeting since I started feeling unwell the moment I woke up. However, I changed my mind and just went on to attend the seminar because I really wanted to get some answers on some questions bombarding my whole system. Fortunately, thanks to me changing my mind, I was able to meet and listen to the words of such an amazing speaker. Her name was Mrs. Celine Yu, and she was the first speaker to talk about Leadership per se. It amused me how she was able to impart to us what it means to be a true leader. Her ideas were in consonance with her faith in God and the experiences she had with relation with building up one’s self-confidence. I could write a whole blog entry just about all of the things I was able to learn from her, but I don’t want to deviate away from the norm of how I write my blog posts. Nonetheless, to summarize what I learned from her, I was able to grasp how one, as she said, should be “fit to serve”. She stressed out the idea that if one cannot or doesn’t dare manage his/her choices, then that person can’t and will never manage his/her life. You see, in everything we do, we are given a choice and how we make these choices will affect the rest of our lives. Hence, it is very important for one to ponder upon such a choice such a way that he/she will come up will be able to come up with an answer fit to what is in corollary with the will of the Lord. I know that sounds deep, but to put it in simpler terms; all a person has to do is to make careful decisions in life. Its easier said than done, but how a person goes through this is all that matters.

With my other co-candidates and the photographers. ♥

Going back to what this blog should be about, I had to leave the seminar early because I had to attend my regular classes. However, me and Marlo were called out to be excused for the campaign shoot. Yes, Ms. Marlo Ramos is also running for AB Student Council. She’s our candidate for Secretary. I know that this already sounds so hypothetical that we are running for public office considering that most of my blog posts pertain to both hair styling and makeup artistry. However, it is true that we are running for student council. So again, back to the shoot; Marlo and I were excused. I brought only a small kit for when I do their makeup. We just wanted a no makeup look for the shoot. This is to of course, promote the idea of simplicity and to advocate what it means to be a student leader. The photographers of the shoot were Mr. Victor Villanueva and Mr. Frey Gander. They both are also students from UST, by the way. As for the people I did makeup on, I started doing the makeup of Ms. Summer Cortez followed by Ms. Sofia Santiago, Ms. Arvi Sarmiento, Ms. Marlo Ramos and Ms. Majan Lazo. These girls, including myself and Mr. Patrick Bugarin who is our one and only male in the group are candidates for this year’s elections. I first won’t say what these people’s positions are in the group to add a bit of suspense to what will happen next. Nevertheless, I just basically did a ‘No Makeup Look’ on all the female candidates including myself for the shoot.

Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine-Free Foundation in 02 Nude Beige

If you would look at my skin on this picture, you'd see that one side is flaking off and that I am having lots of breakouts on my forehead. Oh, and I am alreadywearing the the Maybelline product here too, yet my skin is already repelling everything that the product can do. Hence, my imperfections are starting to show.. The photo was taken just last Saturday when I met up with my business partner, Ms. April Perez. She did my eye makeup here, by the way.

The reason why I added ‘..and MORE!’ to this blog post is because I will talk about my new skin care and foundation routine, plus my inspirational girl-bonding moment with one of my girl friends, Ms. Charis Antalan. She’s mostly present in all of my uploaded shoots, just in case anyone is wondering who she was. Anyways, I’ll start with my new skin care and foundation routine. So for skin care, I am hooked up with using Garnier Products now because I recently found out that I am allergic to the Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine-Free Compact Foundation. If you are following me on Twitter, you would know that I would usually tweet of having my skin consistently peeling off. What I didn’t know was that I was slowly starting to react negatively to the product. When I went to my dermatologist, I asked her why my skin was looking flaky and all that drama, and she answered by saying that I should check in with my foundation. However, thanks to my stubbornness, I refused to listen and went on to use the Maybelline Product because I love the coverage is has and the fact that its only Php 250 and the refill costs around only Php 150. Unfortunately for my case and my skin type, my skin started looking flaky only after four months of continuously using the product considering that I have really sensitive and oily skin. To cut the story short, I had to stop using the product right away since my skin was experiencing breakouts and my pores started looking all clogged up. Its sad though because I really loved the product, but I guess its just not fit for my skin type. So in case you use the same product, I really have nothing against it, its just that it gave me adverse effects in the long run.

Garnier Products that I started using! 🙂

Considering that I started looking extremely ugly in a sense, I was praying to find a solution to such predicament. Luckily, thanks to God’s wisdom, my friend, Ms. Zharmaine Arjinal recommended me to use Garnier. I noticed how radiant she looked like when she was using the same product, so I immediately took the initiative of trying it out. Good thing though that the product worked well on me because I was really in despair of fixing my skin.

So last Monday (January 30), we went to Mercury Drugstore at Espanya Avenue to purchase the Garnier Gentle Clarifying Foam together with the facial scrub that costs around Php 7.00 each. Zha already bought me the Garnier Whiten and Even Moisturizing Cream at Mini-Stop that costs around Php 29.00 each which is a little higher than the retail price which would be Php 22.00 each sachet, considering that she got it from a convenient store, it was inevitably going to be sold higher. Anyhow, after trying it for the very first time, it felt painful and stingy for reasons I don’t know. However, after another try, the sting went away and I figured that it was because my skin was trying to react to the product, and maybe it has already formed a good connection with it. So its a ‘YAY’ for that, right? By the way, I washed my face first using the foam, and spared the scrub for when I wash my face at home before I go to bed because I wanted to try it out too. Plus, I put over the moisturizer after washing and drying up my face.

New Foundation from IN2IT Cosmetics ♥

The following day (January 31), I tweeted that Zha bought me the other Garnier product; this time, it is the Light Complete Multi-action Whitening Cream Sachet (Php 14.00) which is responsible for removing pimple marks. After receiving the product, Zha and I went to the restroom to try it out. She told me to repeat the facial routine above this paragraph, and just apply the Light Complete after leaving the moisturizer out to dry for a few minutes. Again, I felt a sting because I was alien to the product, but as soon as I tried it all back home, the sting was gone and my face stayed Matte for the rest of the day. Well, prior to going home and trying out the product, I went to Crossings Department Store at Quezon Avenue to look for a new foundation to try. I really do not use liquid foundation that much because I find that it is such a hassle for me to use and bring. I got myself a product from IN2IT Cosmetics because originally, it was the brand of foundation that I use prior to Maybelline. You could see me mention it on some of my videos on YouTube before. Nonetheless, I tried their new product which would be the Shine Control 2-way foundation with Extra Cover, SPF 30 and its in the tone 02, Flesh. The product costs around Php 449.75 blending brush from E.L.F. Cosmetics that I picked since I misplaced mine before somewhere in which I do not even recall, costs around Php 129.75. I had to purchase a new foundation right away because of the shoot which would be the main topic of this blog post.

Things that I use for my foundation routine ♥

As for the foundation, and how I use it; I would first apply my Mary Kay Concealer in Ivory 1 mixed with the Beige 2 concealer since my color is in between of the two products, and just blend it out using my ring and middle fingers. This is to melt the product evenly on my skin, also to promote blood circulation. After which, I take my E.L.F. Studio Stippling Brush and set my face with the foundation. I find that its better to use a brush since the product is distributed evenly as compared to using just a sponge. Plus, the sponge accumulates bacteria, so its not really healthy to use on the face. So basically, that is my foundation routine. One thing that I find interesting about this new foundation that i tried out is that it has a great coverage and it doesn’t feel top heavy on the skin. Plus, I need not to retouch every time since its also long lasting in a sense so I think its a good product. I would definitely recommend this to you all to try, especially if you have oily skin like mine. Oh, just a reminder to those who are in to using Makeup Brushes, always spot-clean the brush after using. This will remove the extra product on the brush and will prevent bacteria from accumulating on it. Speaking of which, I am to also clean the brush after I finished writing this blog. I just use Baby Wipes as suggested by my friend and business partner, Ms. April Perez because its gentle and damp, so the product easily transfers to it leaving no harm to the brush itself.

With Marlo ♥

After yesterday’s shoot, before I called it a day, I accompanied Marlo to buy Simple Line Milk Tea at Dapitan that I love so so much because they sell the best Milk Tea in Black! Marlo got her usual Tapioca and we went back inside the school, to get Rice in a Box, after which I accompanied her to her debate training. It was for the Dialectics 2012 Debate Finals on Sunday, February 5. I was supposed to join this competition, but that’s a story I won’t expound on anymore since I am too constrained in having so much Makeup-related things to do. I don’t hate this or anything, its just my way of describing what’s going on with my life. So after I accompanied her going there, I went to the Tan Yan kee Building at UST to fix myself up before going to the mall. I originally planned to go to the mall and just stroll around to relax for I am really stressed out with everything else that I do. Its like my way of coping up with stress and all that kind of stuff. I don’t know, I just really like going to the mall.

Happy Lemon from Trinoma ♥

Mini Haul ♥

Anyways, I saw my friend, Charis there, and chitchatted until we both decided that we’ll go to the mall together and buy stuff. So basically, we went to Trinoma and got ourselves a Happy Lemon Tea and strolled around to shop at Landmark. I got myself this E.L.F Cosmetics Little Black Beauty Book with 48 different Eye Shadows (Php 399.75) and an eye shadow primer (Php 129.75) to go with it. Charis just got an E.L.F Studio 2-Way Foundation that costs around Php 249.75 because she needed a new powder. We also went to the Mac Counter because I am looking for a contouring powder, however I don’t seem to have anything that I would wanna buy. This is because they don’t have the shade that I want, and for that we went to SM North to check out Etude House. Unfortunately, Etude House Doesn’t have anything that I wanted. I was supposed to get an Eyebrow Pencil and a Lip Liner refill, but they were out of stock. Hence, I just got this Aloe Vera mask that costs around Php 58 each. After that, we went to Watsons, and I got the same Garnier Skin Care Products since I am really starting to like it.

With my friend, Charis at Trinoma and SM North. ♥

So after all the looking around and chitchatting at SM, we went back to Trinoma for my car was parked there and I wanted to get myself a copy of the Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual. Unfortunately, they don’t have it at any bookstore. Not even at Fully Booked, National Bookstore and Powerbooks! To add to that burden of not having what I wanted to buy, we saw that Mango had a 70% off sale, and I wanted to get a tank top but I didn’t have a size and the one that I wanted to buy was also out of stock. Nonetheless, its still alright because at least I was able to save on money and got a chance to bond with my friend. So I still consider the trip as something worth remembering. On this part of the story, I just dropped Charis of to her go-see and went home but before going home, she gave me this quotation that I really am thankful for. Its ‘Our Deepest Fear’ by Marianne Williamson which basically gave me the answers to some of the questions that I had on mind.

Our Greatest Fear by Marianne Williamson

Thus, I am really very thankful for that day because not only did I learn so many things, but I was also able to draw the line on where I should stand as a person, on what risks I should take and the decisions I make. Everything just fell right into place, and I have God and all my friends to thank for that. I really am blessed to have been showered with so many opportunities, and as a student-leader, I’d like to share these to others. One can never be a leader if he/she does not influence others to follow the path of righteousness. So there you have it, that is my blog about my Sixth Photo Shoot of 2012 and MORE! I hope you all had fun reading this and God bless you! ♥

Fifth Photo Shoot of 2012 :-)

My Makeup Station 🙂

Yesterday, I just had my Fifth Photo Shoot of 2012 courtesy of HEBE Manila Online Shop in cooperation with SteadyCab Productions. HEBE Manila messaged me the night before (January 27) asking me if I wanted to do a shoot with them. At first, I was hesitant because I still had a leadership seminar to attend to plus a Makeup Session with beauty blogger, April Perez. However, I just couldn’t resist missing out on such an opportunity. Lucky for me that on the day itself, my friends cancelled out on the leadership seminar. So it was truly a Makeup Saturday for me again.

One thing that I could honestly say about this is that I woke up late for the shoot. It totally slipped my mind that I wasn’t to go a seminar anymore and that I had to shoot. Fortunately for me, the location of the shoot was near my place s0 it wasn’t such a hassle that I woke up late and all that drama. So I arrived there at Camera Cart Studios at around 9:30am. I took a trike since I didn’t wanna waste gas going there. I could opt to walk, but I had too much stuff with me. Thankfully, my Yaya (household helper) accompanied me going there. So thank you so much, Yaya! You know I love you so much! :”> (Yes, she speaks English and also Chinese too! LOL!)

Paolo shooting Janelle while CJ and Nadine style Georgina's Outfit. 🙂

Cat-Eye Makeup for Janelle Guiab 🙂

Smokey Eyes Makeup for Georgina 🙂

On the course of doing the hair and makeup. Nadine, the co-owner of HEBE Manila asked me to do a cat-eye makeup on the first model which is Janelle. All of them are my batchmates back in High School, by the way so that explains why I call them by their first names. Anyhow, I did a Cat-Eye Makeup on Janelle together with loose curls to punk up the look. I honestly am not that good in doing Hair so do not expect that I can do what my hairstylist, Marlo can do. So there, basically the picture above explains the look I did on her. I used my favorite Liquid Liner from IN2IT Cosmetics for this look. I am more comfortable with using liquid liner rather than that of gel liner because it gives out a more precised line and it looks more evident on Camera. Well, that’s my opinion on that. It is really up for a person to decide on what kind of liner they want to use. All that matters is how you apply it.

Going back, I did a neutral sultry smokey eyes on the next model, Georgina. Nadine also personally asked me to do that look on her. She didn’t want the makeup to go overboard for they will be modelling clothes. So I did a similar Makeup Look on my 3rd shoot with Industrial Students from my school. I paired it with a nude Lipstick from L’Oreal Paris and topped it over with a lipgloss from Elianto Cosmetics. I didn’t anymore do her hair for they wanted to keep it straight for contrasting purposes for the pair shots.

Georgina's fierce pose 🙂

Erika directing Janelle of the Poses 🙂

So for the part wherein they would take photos, I usually stay to retouch the model from time to time. Also, I would help dictate poses and just roam around and fix my stuff after ward. So Erika did the dictation of the poses while Nadine, Cj and Krizia wouldchange the outfit and accessories of the models. After which, Paolo would shoot them, and Joan takes charge of doing the BTS (Behind The Scenes) pictures. It was a maximum of 5 shots I suppose for each outfit. You could really see the determination of the stylists and the photographers during the shoot because of all them would run around just to match the outfits and all. It was really heartwarming how these ‘Young Professionals’ work as mentioned and seen by Erika (the one directing the pose), herself. I commend Miriam College High School for teaching all of us there in the shoot to be this patient in everything we do. That was such a sight to see and that is why I must say that this shoot was truly a success!

There you have it, that is my fifth shoot of 2012 thanks to HEBE Manila and SteadyCab Productions! Thank you so much for booking me, Cj Aquino and Nadine Narciso! Thank you so much for modelling and covering the shoot, Joan Sta Ana, Janelle Guiab, Gerogina Gonzales, Paolo Maddela, Krizia Jimenez, Kiko Abrillo and Erika Oyales! Thank you too for the food, guys! I definitely had fun shooting with you all! Also, thank you to God for such a wonderful opportunity!  I truly can’t wait to see the launching of your newest collection!  Thank you so much! 🙂

If you have time, please do check out HEBE Manila’s Facebook Page together with SteadyCab Production’s Page! HEBE Manila sells amazing products and I am not saying this because I know them and they got me to do a shoot with them. I promise you all, you will love their products. Especially their shoes! Fourth Photo Shoot of Year 2012 :-)

Behind the Scenes of Last Saturday's Shoot 🙂

Last Saturday (January 21), I had my fourth Photo Shoot of year 2012 at UP Diliman. This was my friend, Sam’s Pre-debut Shoot in cooperation with ‘THIS’ (Trigger Happy Imaginative Studios) Photography. The photographers present in the shoot were Mr. Alexiz Taaca, Mr. Choy Palo and Mr. James Oliveria. Also with special appearance by the debutante’s photographer friend, Mr. Enzo Samonte. Her hair was styled by Ms. Marlo Ramos, my official partner in crime for my shoots and other bookings. My reason for posting this late is because I lacked sleep and I was infused with a really bad cold that came back prior to doing the shoot itself. I guess its because I am overworking myself.

My take on Avant Garde Makeup 🙂

Well anyway, I didn’t really have a chance to sleep the night before the shoot. This was because I really wanted to try doing some Avant Garde makeup on myself. I printed out a 14 page PEG for when I do makeup artistry. I really wanted to try doing some more of these looks to test my Makeup Artistry Skills. This is because I really am personally not a fan of Avant Garde, and that I would usually have the notion that I cannot do it. However, when I tried doing it, I was surprised by how inspired I am that I managed to create a look that I would want to actually share to this blog and to everyone else.So I finished taking almost a hundred photos of myself wearing that look at around 4:00am. After which, I uploaded a photo on Twitpic, removed my makeup, rested for a while and took a shower and change. Practically, I think I finished it all and slept at around a little pass 6:00am. To think that I had to wake up at around 9:30am to prepare for the shoot. Well, to be honest, I took the initiative of sleeping with my hair wet and already wearing my clothes for the shoot. So when I wake up, I am just ready to go. That’s one advice I can give  for when you are in a hurry because it really does save a lot of time and effort.

Hair by: Ms. Marlo Ramos 🙂

Makeup by Claire Lingan 🙂

Makeup by Ms. Claire Lingan and Hair by: Ms. Marlo Ramos 🙂

Marlo and I called in late for the shoot because Sam wasn’t also ready, and I still had to pick Marlo up at a nearby Mc Donald’s. We got at Sam’s condo at around 10:30am to do the Hair and Makeup of her pre-debut shoot. The shoot was scheduled to begin at around 1:30pm because we didn’t wanna shoot Sam under the blazing sun. On the course of doing the hair and makeup, Marlo did the princess-like big curls on her. She taught that it would match Samantha’s sophisticated themed shoot. Also, I did a purple smokey eye paired with a rosy pink lip color. Sam personally hasn’t tried on a purple shadow, so I thought of giving her that look so she’ll know how beautiful purple eye makeup looks on everyone else. I didn’t anymore bother to put false lashes on because her lashes were long and thick already. Nonetheless, I was glad that Sam loved her look and that she was already excited for the shoot.

Yummy Chicken From Manang's Chicken at Katipunan! 🙂

Yummy Fried Pancit from Manang's Chicken 🙂

After doing her hair and makeup, we went to eat at Manang’s Chicken at Katipunan. We wanted to fill our stomachs in before doing anything else. So I ordered a four piece chicken with rice, a macaroni salad and shared a fried pancit with Marlo. Sam just ate burger and fries since she wasn’t as hungry as we were. So immediately after eating, Marlo had to leave for she has some errands to do. I drove Sam to UP and met up with Enzo and the other photographers. I also did some minimal retouch on her so she’s ready to go. On this part of the story, I usually would just point out the idea that they just did their thing for when they do shoots. I stay with them until the shoot is over because I have to retouch Sam from time to time.

My other take on Avant Garde Makeup 🙂

At around 5:00 pm while we were shooting in front of Palma Hall, something came up to me and I suddenly just had the weirdest idea of doing an Avant Garde Makeup Look on myself. I know this sounds unreal to some, but I was literally doing my makeup there. I was sculpting a Cat-Eye and people were passing by. To think that all the Jeepney Drivers and Passengers are seeing me do a live Makeup Tutorial then and there. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed doing my makeup. I continued doing it inside the car because I had to pick up a couple more products to add to it. So after doing my makeup, I went to the Sunken Garden to meet up with the others. They were taking jump shots of Sam, and it was time for the group picture. We also ordered Taho courtesy of Kuya Choy.

Samantha at 18 🙂

They did minimal editing on Sam’s photos since her Mom was there already to pick her up from the shoot. I was so happy that Mrs. Umipig loved the photos. It was so heartwarming how she reacted to the shoot. I could now truly regard this one as a success. It was all thanks to ‘THIS’ (Trigger Happy Imaginative Studios) Photography, Ms. Marlo Ramos and Ms. Samantha Umipig for booking us. Also, Ms. Yna Mendez for recommending us. It was truly one shoot that I personally am proud of.

Well, that’s it! This is what happened during my Fourth Photo Shoot of 2012! I am indeed so blessed to have worked with these people. I will also try and upload a follow me around Vlog and update my YouTube Account once and for all as soon as possible. So thank you so much for reading! I wish you all a Happy Chinese New Year from the bottom of my heart! Kung Hei Fat Choi! Gong Xi Fa Cai! Or as we say in Chinese, 新年快乐!! 🙂 恭禧發財!!! 🙂 Enjoy the year of the Water Dragon, y’all! 🙂

Third Photo Shoot of Year 2012 :>

Third Photo Shoot of Year 2012 ♥

Hey Everyone! Earlier today, I had a shoot with the Second Year Students of  the College of Fine Arts and Design majoring in Industrial Design at my school, the University of Santo Tomas. My friend, Nieves contacted me to help her and her groupmates out on their photoshoot project. If you guys are following me on Twitter, you would know that it is also my Preliminary Exams week. Hence, I really had a hard time managing my schedule because I couldn’t concentrate on studying because of too many things such as org workloads, school paperwork, photo shoots and a lot of different things. To cut the story short, I was stressed out because I didn’t know what I’d do to manage all of these at the same time. I even wanted to give up on myself already because I was too afraid that my grades are going to be in vain.

Thankfully, I managed to pull it all off because of the help of the Black Nazarene mixed with a whole lot amount of self-confidence. Since my bestfriend, Faye (http://ofcuriosityandadventure.wordpress.com) and I went to go see the Black Nazarene at Quiapo Church yesterday, I was able to gain back a lot of self-confidence to keep pushing myself forward. This is why I was able to at the very least, assert myself that I will be able to pull everything off. So the night I got home from Quiapo Church, I told myself to start studying at around 9:00pm because I had to wake up at around 6:30am and prepare myself for the shoot at around 8:00 in the morning. I then hurriedly reviewed for Rizal Course because I had to reread the readings and annotate each one for me to memorize and have a better understanding of what was going on. I finished studying for this at around quarter to 3:00am, and went to bed right away because I still have to wake up early for the shoot.

I arrived at the venue of the shoot at around 8:00 in the morning. I met up with my friend, Nieves outside the Beato Building and immediately went upstairs to do the makeup of their model. It was kind of embarrassing on my part because I was in my uniform and my hair was dripping wet. Good thing, they didn’t mind what I looked like. So on the course of doing the model’s hair and makeup, I started by doing a neutral smokey eye. This is because I didn’t want the model to have an Avant Garde Leopard Face since I was told to change her look after the Leopard-Print Attire. The model was asked to wear a black tube with boots for her studio shoot, so I then proceeded on improving her look by doing a sultry smokey eye makeup to complement the outfit. After which, I proceeded on going for a nude color lip to complement the look. My reason for doing this is for me to have lesser time to do the makeup and incorporate more time on studying for my other exam which would be about Rational Psychology.

While Nieves and the others were shooting, I opted to stay near the building to study, so I can somehow retouch the model if ever. Unfortunately, the guard asked me to leave the vicinity because my driver parked the car on the Teacher’s Parking Slot which was directly fore fronting the area of the building. Since I cannot fathom the idea of all my precious lipsticks getting melted down by the blazing sun, I stayed inside the car and parked near the Arc of the Centuries. This is for me to be under the shade to study. and for me to easily spot where they were having the shoot. Fortunately for me, my friend, Zha whom I talked about in my previous blog, made time to accompany me. This was so sweet of her considering that we have a test at around 1:00pm.

It took Nieves and the others to finish their outdoor shoot for about an hour. Luckily, I was halfway through studying about the History of Human Origin. So we went back up the building to do the second look at the fourth floor Studio-A of the Beato building. It took me about 25 mins to retouch and change the look of the model. After which, Zha and I left because we still had to study some more. We ate lunch at Jollibee at around 11:50am, and used the remaining hour to study for Rational Psychology and Rizal Course. Well, on this part of the story, I just went on to take my exams and prayed to God that I pass it.

So this was how my Third Photo Shoot of Year 2012 went on to be like. I am still on the process of learning the idea of time management, so I can be more productive in what I am doing. You see, taking up a difficult course like mine and being a Freelance Aspiring Professional Makeup Artist at the same time is not that easy. I have to sacrifice my time on each side of the coin in order to achieve equilibrium in the things that I do. However, I am still thankful that I was given a chance to participate in such an event. All thanks to God and my friends: Nieves, Zha and Faye! This was truly a moment in my life that really challenged my capabilities, and pushed me to keep reaching for my dreams.

Thank you for reading!  I hope you’d have the heart to wish me luck on my exams. :”> Ciao! :>

Second Photo Shoot for Year 2012 ♥

Behind The Scenes Pictures From Today's Shoot. ♥

Hey everyone! I recently had my Second Photo Shoot of the year at UP Diliman courtesy of my friend, Yna Mendez for her debut. I had a pre-debut shoot in cooperation with Trigger Happy Imaginative Studios AKA ‘THIS’. The photographers and videographers responsible in making the shoot a success were Mr. Alexiz Taaca, Mr. Choy Palo, Mr. James Oliviera, and Mr. Billy Fajardo. I am their in house Makeup Artist, by the way.

The theme of her second pre-debut shoot was the ‘Simple Innocent Musician Girl’. They specifically asked me to do just a normal day makeup for the debutant. We didn’t want things to look top heavy since we were just going to take minimal photos and concentrate on doing video. Hence, I just basically contoured her  face to extenuate her features and gave her that sweet girl look. We didn’t take that much time to do the makeup because we were short of time, however based on the raw files that the photographers showed me, I guess it was a success. This is because I am not used to doing makeup in a short period of time since I like to take time evening out the look so it really does take time for me to do the makeup perfectly.

However, I feel like this is an area for me to improve upon since not all of my future clients will have the luxury of time to spare for hair and makeup. Nonetheless, I am still grateful that I was given a chance to be a part in a special event of someone’s life. I mean, its not all the time that I get to do shoots, hence I always make sure that I give my all in that specific project. No one would want to get someone who won’t work extra hard for them, right? I don’t know, I think its just rational to get someone who’d exert that much effort for something because this is where your skills are being tested. It is the one that holistically shapes someone to excel.

Going back,  we just basically roamed around UP to shoot. I don’t know how to further explain how we work, but I did some pose dictations and took some photos for you guys to see. Also for remembrance, of course. Well, I’m glad that everything turned out well because Yna loved it. So thank you, God and thank you so much, Yna! Having been part of something like this was truly a moment to remember in my life as a Freelance Aspiring Professional Makeup Artist and it is all because of Yna’s help. The pictures of her first Behind-The-Scenes Pre-Debut Shoot are all posted on my facebook page. You could go check it out by typing in ‘Makeup by Claire Lingan’ and everything else will appear there.

Group Picture of me and some of the members of the 'THIS' family! 🙂

So after Yna had left, all we did was to just have an impromptu shoot by ourselves. Me and the ‘THIS’ Family also do take group pictures to remind us of a job well done. More pictures of what happened are to be posted soon in this blog, including the group picture, of course. So there you have it, that’s basically it, y’all. This is my Second Photo Shoot of Year 2012. Thank you so much for reading! So in case you need a team of photographers to cover your event, please check out their page. That is ‘THIS’ or ‘Trigger Happy Imaginative Studios’ on facebook.com. More details as to how to contact us is posted on my ‘Services’ page on this blog. Thank you! 🙂
